Email sequences fail for one reason: they're written from the company's perspective, not the customer's. Welcome email, product features email, discount email, "last chance" email. This is the 2015 playbook. In 2026, it goes straight to the promotions tab.
High-converting sequences are built around the customer's journey — their problem, their doubt, their objection, their decision moment. The emails that convert are the ones that feel like they were written personally for the reader.
Email 1 — The Problem Mirror (Day 0): Immediately after signup. Describe their problem back to them in exact language. No selling. Just "we understand why you're here." Open rates: 60–80%.
Email 2 — The Insight (Day 2): Share one non-obvious truth about their problem. Something they didn't know before. This builds authority. No product mention yet.
Email 3 — The Success Story (Day 4): A specific case study. Not "clients love us" — a real result with real numbers. "A florist in Manchester used this to book 3 months of weddings in 10 days." Concrete beats abstract every time.
Email 4 — The Objection Killer (Day 7): Address the #1 reason they haven't signed up yet. "You're probably thinking it takes too much time to set up..." Then dismantle it. This email alone moves 15–20% of fence-sitters.
Email 5 — The Soft CTA (Day 10): No pressure, no fake urgency. "When you're ready, here's where to start." Link directly to the most relevant entry point (not the homepage). Conversion rate on this email is 2–4x higher than aggressive "buy now" emails.
